“Imagine someone telling you that wandering around Tokyo with the underground is easy…while omitting ‘if you speak Japanese’. WIth Investing it’s the same. Sure, opening an account with an online broker/robo-advisor and setting up a monthly transfer is not that complicated; the hard part is before those steps. It is learning the language”.

As a Nicola Protasoni put it, Personal finance can be confusing, especially if you’re new to it.

UNDERSTAND WISE INVESTING

Read about 'Wise Money'

When Raph started the website, his first article asked a question that has been widely shared.

What if you could only buy into ONE single investment and HODL (Hold on For Dear Life)?

It stated a simple fact that is widely ignored, as much by Wall Street as by Main Street Investors. Investing can be simple and highly efficient. But Wall Street has no incentive for you to realize this fact. Worse, it will keep you distracted, because this way fees can flow to brokers and asset managers.

You should consider simple investing, because part of the ‘why’ is spending more time on other things that matter more in life.

We coined the term ‘Wise Money Investing’, as opposed to ‘Smart Money’ as Wall Street defines itself. But Wise Money can win. Learn why.

If not, learn why you shoud consider it

In 2007 by John C. Bogle, the founder of Vanguard wrote a book summarizing his investing philosophy.

In essence, the advice is simple: invest in a broad market index fund and hold for the long term. A year later, Warren Buffett, the Oracle of Omaha, threw down the gauntlet to his friends over at the elite hedge funds. The challenge?

He stated that, with all their genius and intellectual firepower, hedge fund returns could not beat the returns given by the humble S&P 500 Index Fund over a nine-year period.

The consideration? A mere million dollars. Warren won, you can too.
