The Stock Market is a powerful money-making machine that can make you rich and financially independent. But Stock Market Crashes are part of the game. The next one may be around the corner. But if you see a Grizzly Bear, it’s too late to run away. Grizzlies swim, climb trees and run at 60 km/h. Potential Bear encounters need to be prepared for. The same applies to Bear Markets. But, while a trip to Alaska is optional, market crashes are not. They are guaranteed to happen.

Despite short-term volatility, equity markets remain underpinned by earnings stability, particularly in the U.S. and select European sectors. Central banks are approaching peak rates, with policy divergence creating opportunities across fixed income. Investor sentiment is improving as global PMIs recover. We continue to emphasize diversification, quality income, and long-term discipline as macro uncertainties evolve.

Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order (Ray Dalio)
I believe the world is changing in big ways that haven’t happened before in our lifetimes but have many times in history, so I knew I needed to study past changes to understand what is happening now and help me to anticipate what is likely to happen. I shared what I learned in my book, Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order.

We can’t blame you if you’ve been looking to put out an APB on trend following so far this year—needing some help from that Alts bucket in what is increasingly looking like an ugly market moment. The S&P 500 is now down 17% from its highs, while the Nasdaq and Russell indices have plunged into bear market territory (down 21.5% and 21%, respectively). But Mr. Trend hasn’t answered the call… thus far. What’s more… they aren’t just not showing up—they’re actually losing alongside equities. That makes it even more frustrating, as they’re adding to losses rather than offsetting them. What’s happening?

Targeting retail adoption of ETFs through savings plans is a strategic priority for asset managers and in this instalment of ETF Interviews, we speak to Olivier Souliac, head product specialist at Xtrackers about how DWS became the first to partner with a neobroker to co-launch an ETF. The firm partnered with German savings plan specialist Scalable Capital to launch the Scalable MSCI AC World Xtrackers UCITS ETF (SCWX) last December.
DBi and iM Global Partner (iMGP) have unveiled their second managed futures ETF strategy in a month – with their latest offering excluding positions in commodities. The iMGP DBi Managed Futures Ex-Commodities Fund R USD UCITS ETF (MFA8) debuts with a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.75% and is listed on Euronext Paris with a London Stock Exchange (LSE) listing to follow.

(Early) Retirement
As an investment professional, I know how easy it is to get caught between two extremes: chasing financial independence to retire early or staying in the industry far longer than we should — trading time for titles, bonuses, and perceived security. I’ve seen both paths lead to regret. That’s why I believe the real goal isn’t early retirement or late retirement — it’s meaningful retirement. There’s a magic window when we still have health, time, and financial freedom. The key is knowing when to step into it — and making sure you’ve built more than just wealth along the way.

Economic growth in absolute terms is all well and good, but where have living standards actually improved in Europe? To answer that question, we visualize the closest data point, change in GDP per capita for 36 European countries, with figures adjusted for inflation and expressed in 2020 euros. Change figures for Iceland, Luxembourg, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Switzerland, and Türkiye are from 2014–2023 due to data restraints. - If a European country is missing from this list, it’s because figures were unavailable for either 2014 or 2023/24.
Health & Wellness
Smoking prevalence across Europe varies widely, with the Balkans showing the highest rates, often above 35%. Countries like Turkey (41%), Serbia (39%), and Bulgaria (38%) lead the continent in smoking. Western Europe presents a mixed picture, with France (31%) and Germany (28%) above the EU average. Northern countries such as Norway (9%) and Sweden (12%) report the lowest smoking rates. The map highlights persistent regional disparities and underscores the need for targeted public health policies.
